Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal
Join us in creating a positive change this Christmas
The Salvation Army is again proud to be the founding charity partner of The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal. This year more than ever we are calling for support with any gift or monetary contributions in-store and online from Thursday 16 November 2023.
The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal aims to create a brighter Christmas for Aussies experiencing hardship or crisis, through the delivery of gifts to those in need nationwide, including communities impacted by the cost of living.
This year calls on the community to support to those doing it tough this festive season by dropping off a new gift under the Wishing Tree at any Kmart store, or by making a monetary contribution in-store or online. The ongoing support by the community during this time of year will make an incredible difference to the lives of so many Australians who need a helping hand this festive season.
Kmart’s Chief Executive Officer, John Gualtieri says, that with cost-of-living pressures affecting so many families around Australia, the Appeal has never been more relevant. “For 36 years the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal has been an important local initiative that gives customers and team members the chance to make a direct impact to the people struggling in their community. I know that for many families including mine, it has become an annual tradition that teaches the importance of giving to others in need, and we couldn’t be more grateful to our customers for their ongoing support.”
Major Rebecca Inglis, Salvation Army, agrees that this year the need is even greater, “Christmas is the busiest time of year for The Salvation Army, and we consider it a privilege to be able to support individuals and families right across the country with gifts and toys to make their Christmas that bit more special. Our hope at Christmas is for no one to have to do it alone, and we are extremely proud and grateful to Kmart and the Wishing Tree Appeal, who for over 36 years have partnered with The Salvos to help brighten the festive season for those doing it tough.”
